Allison Aldridge Committee on Minority Affairs (CMA) Oversee ACS programs devoted or related to minority issues:
  • Develop a long-range plan to ensure increased participation of minority chemical professionals and in the Society at all levels.
  • Study and make recommendations on the current status of minorities in the ACS and in the chemical sciences.

  • Promote and recognize the professional accomplishments of minorities in the chemical sciences and in the ACS.

  • Increase the interest of minority chemical professionals in the work of the Society.

Cherlyn Bradley Chemical Safety The Committee has as its prime responsibility the encouragement of safe practices in chemical activities. The committee serves as a resource to the chemical professional in providing advice and counsel on the handling of chemicals, and seeks to ensure safe facilities, designs, and operations by calling attention to potential hazards and stimulating education in safe chemical practices.  The Committee also provides advice to other ACS units on matters related to chemical safety and health.   
  Project SEED The purpose of the Project SEED Committee is to ensure that students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds have opportunities to experience the challenges and rewards of chemically related sciences. High school students have the opportunity to participate in research for over two summers and, on completion, to apply for a SEED college scholarship.  
Charles Cannon Economic and Professional Affairs (CEPA) The Committee identifies and monitors the needs of the chemical workforce and develops, coordinates, and oversees the implementation of programs and activities to enhance the economic and professional status of chemical professionals.

Nate Gilham Admissions The Committee interprets applications for Society membership in the broadest manner so as to insure that all who are working in the chemical profession are welcome into the Society.  
Russell Johnson Public Relations and Communications (CPRC) The committee promotes awareness of the contributions of chemistry to society.  
Fran Kravitz Economic and Professional Affairs (CEPA) The Committee identifies and monitors the needs of the chemical workforce and develops, coordinates, and oversees the implementation of programs and activities to enhance the economic and professional status of chemical professionals.  
Tom Kucera Council Policy Committee (CPC) The committee plans the agenda for each Council meeting. It acts ad interim for the Council on special matters and it conducts long-range planning studies.  
Claude Lucchesi Committee on Chemistry and Public Affairs (CCPA) The committee is responsible for advice and recommendations for ACS action on public policy matters involving the chemical sciences and technologies.  
Barb Moriarty Divisional Activities Committee (DAC) DAC is responsible for oversight and coordination of activities of Divisions of the Society to ensure that the fields of interest, as they evolve, are served; to recommend to Council and the Board of Directors policies affecting the Divisions so as to enhance the total effectiveness of the Divisions and of the Society; and to promote positive interactions within the Division structure and with other units of the Society to fulfill the mission and goals of the Society. Seymour Patinkin Local Section Actvities Committee (LSAC) LSAC will work with local sections to enhance their success, to promote the well being of their members, to promote the spirit of volunteerism, and to carry out the mission of the American Chemical Society at the professional and community level.”  
Marsha Phillips Nomenclature, Terminology and Symbols: This committee examines problems and monitors developments in nomenclature, terminology and symbols, coordinates the activities of divisional and other committees dealing with such matters within the Society, advises and consults with editors of Society publications in matters related to nomenclature, terminology and symbols, acts for the Council in the consideration and action on such documents and proposals presented to the Society, acts for the Council in providing liaison in matters of these issues with non-Society organizations, and makes recommendations to the Council in matters related to these issues.  
Steve Sichak Constitution & Bylaws (C&B) The Committee approves revisions of and/or proposed amendments to the bylaws of Local Sections, International Chemical Sciences Chapters, and Divisions.  
Ken Fivizzani Chemical Safety - Chair The Committee has as its prime responsibility the encouragement of safe practices in chemical activities. The committee serves as a resource to the chemical professional in providing advice and counsel on the handling of chemicals, and seeks to ensure safe facilities, designs, and operations by calling attention to potential hazards and stimulating education in safe chemical practices.  The Committee also provides advice to other ACS units on matters related to chemical safety and health.  Nalco Company
Sara Risch Nominations & Elections The Committee selects, from among the broad diversity of the membership, candidates who can provide quality leadership. The Committee supervises all Society elections, conducts elections in Council, and resolves election disputes in a fair and equitable manner. Councilor Ag and Food Chem
  Committee on Chemistry and Public Affairs (CCPA) - consultant The committee is responsible for advice and recommendations for ACS action on public policy matters involving the chemical sciences and technologies.
